INAE Forum on Engineering Interventions for Disaster Mitigation was constituted with the mandate of identifying key areas for disaster risk mitigation and management, where INAE can play a role through its multidisciplinary expertise and take appropriate actions to pursue them with concerned agencies for achieving tangible results and impact. The Forum had organized two roundtable meetings on \u201cLandslide Disasters in India -Some Vexing Issues Related to Landslide Control\u201d<\/strong> in May 2015 at New Delhi and on \u201cEngineering Interventions for Landslide Risk Reduction and Mitigation in India\u201d<\/strong> in Nov 2015. Actionable recommendations have resulted from the Roundtables which were submitted to the concerned Government Departments\/agencies including National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Geological Survey of India (GSI), National Institute of Disaster Management, Ministry of Earth Sciences etc and are being actively progressed for necessary follow up actions. Similar studies on urban flooding and remedial measures to avoid such problems have been initiated and the final report will be ready for submission to GoI soon.
