The INAE Forum on Energy undertook a Research Study in the year 2017 on “Engineering Interventions Necessary for Achieving 175 GW of Renewable Power by 2022” in India, which was initiated with the objective of supporting the national effort of providing electricity for economic development through sustainable pathways and achieving the goal set forth by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India. The research study envisaged to bridge the gap of ‘what is perceived as achievable’ and ‘what India must achieve’ and suggests engineering interventions to realize the national target for achieving 175 GW of Renewable Power by 2022. The Research study report was released by Mr. Piyush Goyal, the then Hon’ble Minister of State with Independent Charge for Power, Coal, New and Renewable Energy and Mines during the INAE-TERI-ETC Workshop on “Energy Transitions: The Global Challenges and Opportunities” held at New Delhi in Feb 2017.
