To align the activities of the Academy with the thrust areas of National engineering interest in the policy domain, Joint Consultative Committees have been constituted by INAE for engagement with key Government Departments and agencies such as DST, DRDO, DAE, ISRO, CSIR and AICTE. The objectives of these Joint Consultative Committees are to strengthening mutual interaction and conduct joint activities/programs on mutually identified topics in line with national priorities in engineering and technology. Reconstituted annually, INAE Committees play a vital role in fulfilling the Academy’s mandate of providing strategic inputs for National development and planning, particularly in areas related to engineering and technological advancement. As an apex body, INAE addresses issues of national and global relevance while promoting excellence in engineering to meet India’s technological aspirations and challenges. The Joint Consultative Committees, co-chaired by the respective Secretary/Chairman of the department and the President of INAE, with members from both organizations, identify and pursue meaningful activities with the aim of addressing engineering challenges of national importance with the outcome of arriving at actionable recommendations in terms of engineering interventions to serve as inputs in policy making and to provide solutions to problems of National engineering interest. The joint Consultative Committees generally convene once or twice a year, either in person or virtually to deliberate on important issues and chalk out the future initiatives and progress.
