Guidelines for Mentoring of Engineering Teachers by INAE Fellows/ INAE Young Associates
1. Objective
The objective of the Scheme is the mentoring of Engineering Teachers by INAE Fellows/ INAE Young Associates.
2. Eligibility
Regular/Permanent Engineering Teachers from engineering colleges/institutions recognized by AICTE/Ministry of Education (MoE) are eligible for mentoring. The Mentee can be mentored at a third institution other than that of Mentee or Mentor, and special permission can be taken for the same from INAE. The Mentor and the Engineering Teacher should not be from the same engineering institution, though they can be from two different institutions located in the same station. The upper age limit of the Engineering Teacher being mentored is 45 years.
Young Associates (YA) who have completed 5 years as a Young Associate and are in regular employment, can Mentor one Engineering Teacher.
Each Fellow can mentor a maximum of two engineering teachers. Same Mentor and Mentee combination be permitted for two years only, which need not be consecutive years.
3. Duration
The period of mentoring is for a maximum of 2 months at any point of time during the academic year which is mutually convenient. The mentoring period can be split into two parts, but the mentee will be entitled to TA only once.
4. Mode of mentoring
The mentee has an option of opting either for Module I: Online Mentoring for a duration of 2 Months or for Module II: Existing Procedure for Operation of scheme wherein Mentee Travels to Institution of Mentor for undertaking mentoring for a duration of 2 months.
1. Module I: Online Mentoring for a duration of 2 months:
The scheme provides for the contingency grant for mentoring of Rs 10,000/- in a year to each mentor for mentoring of one Mentee and Rs 15,000/- for mentoring two Mentees at the end of the mentoring period.
For online mentoring, the Mentee may be given a Contingency amount of Rs 5,000/- total after the mentoring is over.
2. Module II: Existing Procedure for Operation of scheme wherein Mentee Travels to Institution of Mentor for undertaking mentoring for a duration of 2 months:
The Scheme provides for second AC or CC train fare by mail/super-fast express train and an amount of Rs. 40,000/- towards the living, local conveyance and incidental expenses for each outstation Engineering Teacher being mentored. In case the mentor and mentee are located in the same station, an adhoc amount of Rs 5,000/- will be paid to the Engineering Teacher being mentored. The payment will be made at the end of the mentoring period. A contingency grant for mentoring of Rs 10,000/- in a year will also be provided to each mentor for mentoring of one Mentee and Rs 15,000/- for mentoring two mentees at the end of the mentoring period.
5. Number of Positions
A maximum of 25 Engineering Teachers shall be mentored each year. Each Fellow can mentor a maximum of two engineering teachers. INAE Young Associate can mentor one engineering teacher.
6. Operation of the Scheme
Applications for mentoring of Engineering Teachers are now invited. The last date to submit the Application form by the mentee is February 6, 2022. The last date to evaluate the Applications received by the mentor and submit to INAE is February 13, 2022.
After scrutiny of the above applications, the candidates will be selected by the Steering Committee and the concerned INAE Fellows/ INAE Young Associates (mentors) and mentees will be informed.
On completion of mentoring period, a Report by the Engineering teacher and bills for travel expenditure and honorarium shall be submitted to INAE office, duly signed by the mentor and the payment to the engineering teacher and the contingency grant to the mentor will be made.
Certificate will be issued to the Engineering Teachers at the end of the Mentoring Period by INAE stating that the Mentee has undergone Mentoring by the particular INAE Fellow/Young Associate at a particular institution for a specified period of time.
7. Instructions to initiate the application process
