INAE Young Innovator & Entrepreneur Award

It is informed that the Department of Science and Technology (DST), vide its letter no. DST/PCPM/Awards and decoration/06/2020 dated 07.09.2022 has advised that all awards of INAE should be discontinued with immediate effect, as per the direction of the Ministry of Home Affairs. In view of above, all awards of INAE have been suspended since the receipt of this letter, till further directions.

Purpose of the Award

The INAE young Innovator & Entrepreneur Award is instituted to encourage and recognize innovation and entrepreneurship among Young Engineers. The engineering innovations/inventions/concepts that have been actually realized and implemented in industry either in new processes or products would be given preference.

Eligibility

Any citizen of India not older than 45 years as on the 1st of January of the year of Award.

Criteria

Both innovation and entrepreneurship together would be considered important and young innovators from Academia/Research organization or Industry whose novel engineering/technology ideas have been translated into successful startup enterprises would be given preference.

Validity

A nomination is valid for one year only. In case candidate is not selected during the year, there is no provision for nomination to be carried forward for the next year, however re-nomination is permitted.

Call for nominations

The nominations would be sought from INAE Fellows/CEOs/Directors/Head(s) of Industry, R&D organizations, Engineering institutions and Departments where nominee is currently working. Self-nomination is not permitted.

Nominations in respect of Women Innovators & Entrepreneurs shall be encouraged .

Last Date for Nomination

The last date of receipt of nominations is April 30 each year.

The Award

The award would carry a citation and a cash prize of Rs 2 lakhs to the selected individual candidate or to be shared by the group of individuals not exceeding three persons. Upto four awards would be given every year.

Selection Procedure

There would be a two-tier selection process wherein the initial shortlisting would be done by the Selection Committee. The shortlisted candidates would be then called for presentation to the Selection Committee. The Selection Committee would recommend the nominee for conferment of the INAE Young Innovator & Entrepreneur Award. In case no nomination is found suitable, no award would be conferred during that year.

Presentation of the Award

The awardees will be invited for the INAE Annual Convention being held in December each year wherein they would be conferred with the Award and may be invited to make the presentation of their work.

Forwarding of Nominations

A scanned copy of the prescribed Nomination Form duly signed by the Nominator along with supporting documents, if any, should be submitted to INAE by email at inaehq@inae.in. In case, the Nomination Form is not signed, the same may please be forwarded through official email address. INAE Office shall confirm the authenticity of the nomination received by checking with the nominator either through email or on phone.

Dr Vaibhav Tidke, CEO & Co-founder, S4S Technologies Pvt. Ltd., Aurangabad, specialized in the field of ‘Sustainable Agri-Food Processing’ for development of Solar Conduction Dryer (SCD) for farmers which reduces moisture content in agro-produce to preserve their produce up to 1 year without using any chemicals.

Dr OD Naidu, Senior Principal Engineer, Grid Automation R&D, Hitachi Energy, Bengaluru, specialized in the field of ‘Power System protection and monitoring’ for development of Fault locator technology for power transmission networks.

Dr Debarka Sengupta, Associate Professor, Dept. of Comp. Sc. and Engg. Dept. of Computational Biology, Infosys Centre for Artificial Intelligence, Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology Delhi, specialized in the field of ‘Computational Biology’ for development of Blood based detection of cancers using gene expression profiles and machine learning.
