Vaishvik Bharatiya Vaigyanik (VAIBHAV) Fellowship

Vaishvik Bharatiya Vaigyanik (VAIBHAV) Fellowship

The VAIBHAV Fellowship is a flagship initiative by the Government of India, building on the success of the VAIBHAV Summit held in October 2020. The program aims to strengthen collaborations between the Indian STEMM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Medicine) diaspora and Indian institutions.

The Department of Science & Technology (DST) has entrusted the Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE) with the administration and implementation of the VAIBHAV Fellowship through the International Cooperation Division (ICD) of DST. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between DST and INAE was signed on July 15, 2024, formalizing the implementation of the VAIBHAV Fellowship program.

The Fellowship envisions collaborative research between scientists from the Indian diaspora and Indian Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs), universities, or publicly funded scientific institutions. Selected Fellow identifies an Indian institution for their research and may spend up to two months per year, for a maximum of three years, fostering knowledge exchange and advancing cutting-edge research.

Currently, there are 19 VAIBHAV Fellows and 2 Distinguished VAIBHAV Fellows from CFP 2023, 16 active Fellows from CFP 2024, and 20 VAIBHAV Fellows and 1 Distinguished VAIBHAV Fellow selected under CFP 2025. The complete list of active Fellows can be explored through the respective links for CFP 2023, CFP 2024, and CFP 2025.
