Major Professional Contributions:
Engineering Contributions:
As a design engineer at a private firm, Dr. N. Anandavalli was involved in analysis and design of various steel and concrete structures including multi-storeyed buildings, industrial structures, container yard floor and underground tanks. Dr. N. Anandavalli was deputed to work at Engineers India Limited, Chennai, wherein she was involved with design of refinery structures, and analysis and design of control room building. At CSIR-SERC, Dr. (Ms.) N. Anandavalli has contributed significantly in solving Industry related problems. Following are the major projects during last 10 years, in which the applicant played a major role:
v Investigations on collapse of green concrete dome of sludge digester
v Evaluation of structural design of antenna civil platform (ISRO)
v Evaluation and management of longitudinal force on substructure of railway bridges
v Structural adequacy verification of a large-size glass panel assembly by FEA
v Design adequacy of retaining wall of protective structure against sea erosion
v Design Validation of 236m High River Crossing Transmission Line Tower
v Analytical and field investigations of cooling tower
v Nonlinear FEA and Structural Adequacy of Shell of 220m High RC Chimney
Research Contributions:
· Development of blast and impact resistant layered hardened aircraft shelter (HAS)
· Evolution and evaluation of new laced steel-concrete composite (LSCC) system
· Blast resistant design of large capacity explosive storage structure
· Seismic evaluation of reinforced concrete(RC) beam-column joints of nuclear power plant structures
· Transient dynamic analysis of Mobile Launch Pad structure
· Formulation of novel simplified approach for analysis of concrete structures with reinforcement
· Development of efficient modelling strategy for air and contained blast loading
· New formulation of 3-noded and 4-noded shell elements to analyse shock loaded RC structural components
